Citing Resources: Reference Materials

April 2020

Citing and Citations

Why should I cite?

 How do I cite?

Citing acknowledges the work of others and gives credit to their ideas. Citing lends authority to your own writing by identifying source material and offering readers an opportunity to examine it for themselves.

This guide provides resources for formatting citations for books, articles, websites, full-text databases, and eBooks. Citation style differs according to the academic discipline, but many Air University schools follow the AU Style and Author Guide, based on the Chicago Manual. Your instructor can answers questions about course-specific requirements.
